Got a Call Tonight From the Local Shelter About A Rescue

About 8:30 tonight a lady from the local animal shelter called me. Someone had dropped off a bulldog and she could not get it to come to her. He had crawled under a shed and would not come out. She thought it had been in a fight because there was blood on it's head. Well, this turned out to be a very horrible case of neglect. He was covered in fleas, starved, and the blood on his head was where he had scratched his wrinkles raw. His ears did not look that bad on the inside and he did not have any teeth missing or tarter stains on them. This bulldog is only about a year old.

We took baby shampoo and gave him a bath. It took an hour and a half to get
him cleaned up. I put antibiotic ointment on his sores and eye ointment in his eyes. The lady fixed him a bed with an old comforter in one of the cages and he was already going to sleep before we left. Tomorrow, first thing, he will go to the vets. My biggest concern is heartworms. No doubt he has every other type worm imaginable.

So, I guess my house has turned into a zoo for the present time. But I will make sure this bully does not go through this kind of agony again. He is purebred too. This is not a mix, so I am going to have him scanned to see if he is micro chipped and possible stolen.

This is what he looked like before we bathed and cleaned him. He was so loving and sweet, he never whimpered or cried the first time. I took boiled chicken with me and he loved it.

After a bath and antibiotic ointment applies to the sores on his head.

Hopefully he will look like a completely different dog in a month or two. His feet were so sore but he had the sweetest personality.
